Mucchia Prada designs a phone with LG, a rival to Apple's iPhone.
Both are pretty good looking wouldn't you say? Both are also very similar in many
ways, aside from looking alike they have similar technologies as well. Like the
iPhone, the LG-KE850 (a.k.a Prada Phone) sports a full-face touch screen, and is a
GSM/EDGE phone. Which means that you can take the phone with you around
the world and get reception. Unlike the iPhone, the LG phone will begin to
appear in Europe in February, then in Asia in March, as for North America nothing
has been confirmed yet. For all you Apple fans out there, you'll have to wait a few
months, the iPhone is not set to release until June of this year and will cost you
about $599 for the 8 gig high-end model. Those who covet the Prada phone it is
set to sell at 600 euros about $780 U.S. dollars, plus the cost of your ticket to Europe
or if we're lucky it might show up on eBay.
As for the idea of a major fashion label partnering with a mobile phone
manufacturer, this is not new news. Dolce and Gabanna has done it as well as
Juicy Couture...this one just happens to look good...really good. Personally, I
would rather blow the money on a hot pair of Christian Louboutin heels!
Ralph Rucci: The Art of Weightlessness
During my days working for the Neiman Marcus New York Fashion Office I
remember it was always Mr. Rucci's show that everyone looked most forward to
seeing. Receiving an invitation to his show was coveted by all those in the
industry. I will never forget my experiences viewing his collections. I was lucky
enough to sit first row with Joan Kaner who was then the Fashion Director, she was
also kind enough to whisk me back stage to meet the man. (Thanks Joan!)
So now finally after all these years what many of us fashion insiders have always
known, Mr. Rucci's immense talent is now on exhibit for all the world to see. A
retrospective of his work will be on view January 12th through April 14th at the
Museum at FIT. Rucci was the first recipient of the Couture Council's Artistry of
Fashion Award and was also the first American to show officially during Paris
couture since Mainbocher in the 1930's. Ralph Rucci: The Art of Weightlessness
marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of his career in fashion. The exhibit includes
approximately 100 of his garments.
Short, Shiny, Shimmering & White
Coming in full force this spring/summer is the futuristic blend of white and silver.
Much of what we will see is a modern take on mod fashion, very reminiscent of
Courreges' Moon Girl Look. White dresses paired with silver and Lucite accessories.
A major departure from what we have been use to seeing: layered bohemian
looks. Though that trend is making a transformation into something new and
appealing too, enough to keep us coming back for more. As for me I am really
liking this look, it is clean, simple and I think relatively easy to put together. I plan
on putting my own spin on it...a combination of preppy girl meets moon girl.
